Noh Experience: Ginza Style

Welcome to the world of Noh! Experience the music, chanting, and movements of Noh and Kyogen, and enjoy the Noh play Tamura in a program that lets you fully experience the multifaceted magic of Noh. Noh performer Takeda Munenori and Sumika Nono, from the TV program Mystery Hunter (actress and former top female role in the Takarazuka Revue's Cosmos Troupe), invite you to the world of Noh with their delightful conversation. Whether it's your first encounter with Noh or if you are looking to learn more, everyone from elementary and middle school students to seniors is welcome to join.

Saburota Kanze/ Yaemon Yamashina/ Munenori Takeda/ Sumika Nono

Saburouta Kanze
The eldest son of the 26th head of the Kanze family, Kiyokazu Kanze. After studying under his father, Saburouta made his debut in Kurama Tengu during a flower viewing event and has gone on to perform in several major plays such as Okina, Dojoji, and Midare as a Noh performer representing the new generation. On May 20, 2023 at the G7 Hiroshima Summit, he performed Ishibashi at a social dinner hosted by the Prime Minister and his wife, representing Japan's traditional performing arts. He also serves as the Vice President of the Kanze Association and Councilor of the Kanze Archive.

Yaemon Yamashina
The second son of the 25th head of the Kanze family, Motomasa Kanze, and a member of the Noh Association. Designated as an Important Intangible Cultural Property, Yaemon serves as the 12th head of the Yamashina family, a prestigious family of Omi Sarugaku from the Muromachi period. He is the Vice President of the Kanze Association, Executive Director of the Kanze Archive, and Deputy Chief of the National Noh Theatre Training Division. He has been actively promoting Noh from a young age and is a pioneer in workshops.
His efforts toward restoring and creating new works have earned him the Pola Award.

Munenori Takeda
The eldest son of Munekazu Takeda. He studied under his father and the 26th head of the Kanze family, Kiyokazu Kanze.
He has been designated an Important Intangible Cultural Property designation and serves as director of the Kanze Association.
He graduated from the Waseda University's First Faculty of Letters, Arts and Sciences with a major in theater and has starred in the Hagoromo -Ginza Flight and ADACHIGAHARA: A Demon Dwelling in the Darkness of Ginza, sponsored by the Agency for Cultural Affairs and Tokyo Art & Live City, a collaboration between Noh and classical music, as well as numerous other collaborations.

Sumika Nono
Born February 27, 1987 in Kyoto Prefecture. She is the former top female lead for the Takarazuka Revue's Cosmos Troupe. After retiring from the troupe, she has gone on to perform in many plays and movies as an actress. Not only has she appeared in TV and radio dramas, but has also done the narration for informational and educational programs. Her major roles include the NHK serial telenovela Asa ga Kita, a mystery hunter on TBS's Sekai Fushigi Hakken, and more. She is currently struggling with parenting as a mother of one.
